Exploring the Chakras: Solar Plexus

The third chakra Solar Plexus is the power center. We can think of this chakra as a bright golden sun between the ribs and navel, right above the bellybutton. The solar plexus is the core of our personality (the ego) and the perception of who we are; associated with will power, self-esteem and personal identity.

Because this chakra ties into our personality so heavily, it also holds with it the fear of rejection and the vulnerability behind being our authentic selves.

The element of this chakra is Fire, I think of it as our deep desire to be who we truly are despite our fears or hesitations; the fire burning within. This chakra burns the brightest when we allow ourselves to live with confidence and strength.

When this chakra is out of balance or blocked, we sometimes see:
↠ Low self-esteem
↠ Self-deprecating behaviours
↠ Digestive problems
↠ Ulcers
↠ Emotional insecurity
↠ Arrogance (to mask low self-esteem)
↠ Selfish behaviour

When properly balanced and active, we see people who are:
✻ Confident (without arrogance)
✻ Responsible
✻ Warm
✻ Reliable
✻ Great leaders
✻ Patient
✻ Flexible
✻ Peaceful

Food to help balance this chakra: Anything that aids in digestion or gives us energy. Dairy and complex carbs like whole grains and legumes are great.⋯Pineapple, yellow peppers, bananas, squash, pasta, bread, hemp seed, flax, yogurt, cheese, turmeric, cumin⋯

Crystals:  Yellow Topaz, Malachite, Golden Obsidian, Yellow Jade, Hematite, Green Chrysoprase, Pyrite

Affirmation: I am empowered and successful in all that I experience.

Mantra:  I WILL

⊱ Do you feel confident when you enter a room?
⊱ What kind of position do you have at work? Do you often fall short of a raise or promotion?  Do your efforts go unnoticed?
⊱ Is feeling powerless something you struggle with?
⊱ Do you feel inferior in your relationships?
⊱ What kind of inner monologue do you have? How do you speak to yourself? How do you see yourself?
